 He is My God

Many times, while discussing the truth of God and the Gospel of Jesus Christ with those who have yet to believe, they tell me that for one reason or another they cannot believe or accept what they call “your God.” That term was offensive to me. He’s not “my God,”   I would reply, “He’s just God!”

Beginning Monday morning last and continuing until after the prayer meeting Friday morning, our church (Calvary Chapel Boise) had a time of fasting and prayer. Every morning and evening there was a prayer meeting in the sanctuary, ending with the final prayer meeting Friday morning. I attended all of the morning prayer meetings which began at 6:30 am. Despite the snow and cold weather the sanctuary was full with faithful believers.

On the second day of this fast I was touch deeply and personally by our God. It was a true one to one experience. Just myself and my God. There was a sanctuary full of people seeking God, and He came directly and individually to me.

As I looked around the room I saw the obvious evidence of others individually being touched by God. Unlike man, God can have personal and individual communion with different believers at the same time. Personal and Individual. He is truly “your God” and “my God,” and that is different than the truth that He is “our God” and “The God.”

The only way we can experience that “my God” truth is through relationship. Real relationship, personal and individual, with “my God.” It is not about “attending” church, it is about relationship. It’s not about doctrine, it is about relationship. Everything we think, do, and say should be a result of that relationship.

Christianity is relationship. Experiential relationship with God. That involves real prayer. Personal and individual communication with God. It involves laying aside the things of this world and seeking God with all of your heart and soul. I promise you that He will meet you in that place of seeking and you will never be the same. Never.

I am not speaking of a one time experience either. This is continual, day by day, moment by moment. Seek Him. It’s really just that simple. Set aside time to pray. Find a secret place to worship Him and speak with Him, and do it often. It will change you.

Matthew 6:6

But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.
